Road Race – Columbiana, Ohio

Start/Finish: Staging is on S Main St downtown. All road races will be safely escorted by a rolling enclosure.

Course Description: The course begins in the circle of Columbiana, “The Biggest Little Town in Ohio,” full of antique shops and diners. It turns out of town on a classic brick road and transitions into an easy 6 mile stretch of rolling flats, just enough for a warm up! As you make the first right hand turn onto Bye Rd. the climbing begins. This 2 mile section starts with a steep 1/2 mile climb, tough rollers and ends with a wicked descent.

CAUTION!!! STAY ALERT AS YOUR DESCENDING SKILLS WILL COME IN HANDY ON THIS 40+MPH DESCENT AND HARD LEFT HAND TURN, REQUIRING A CAUTIOUS APPROACH. After navigating the hair raising descent you will roll onto the smooth pavement of Rt 170. Use this 2 mile stretch to catch your breath and prepare yourself for the race to the top of Pancake!! After crowning the KOM/QOM, catch your breath and enjoy the view. For the next 5 miles will encounter short, rolling climbs with grades of 10-15%. As you anxiously make your way back to town, you will fight tough uphill grades but be rewarded with a smooth and high speed race that finishes with a left hand turn through a European style round about.
