5 Pro Cycling Teams Racing this weekend in the Valley.
5 Pro Cycling Teams
A refocused schedule will challenge the passion, speed and excitement of 30 cyclists from 5 professional teams, when they gear up for the July 9th – 11th Youngstown Live Tour of the Valley. Race organizers are proud to announce that participation has climbed this year and would like to showcase a few of the pro-teams that will be attending the 2nd Annual Tour Of The Valley:
- Kenda Pro Cycling | Kenda Pro Cycling is presented by Gear Grinder, lead by founder Chad Thompson and directed by nine-time finisher of the Tour de France, Frankie Andreu. Beginning their season at the Tour of Tawain, Kenda Pro will make their way across the US Cycling scene and have chosen to take part in the 2nd Annual Tour of the Valley.
- Team Mountain Khakis | Southern-based Team Mountain Khakis is UCI Registered and winner of the 2009 USA Crits and Speedweek and Top 10 NRC ranked. Team Mountain Khakis seeks to establish and maintain a program that creates an environment in which riders can develop, mature, and build great careers in professional cycling.
- The Team Type 1 | The Team Type 1 is an elite team comprised of some of the finest amateur cyclists in the U.S. The team’s focus is the epic Race Across America, which it has won twice in record-breaking time. Each member of the Elite Team has Type 1 diabetes. This team rides to instill hope and inspiration for people around the world affected by diabetes.
- Team Panther | Now in its third year, Team Panther is presented by Competitive Cyclists. This elite squad is armed and ready to be a commanding presence in the elite amateur peloton. The primary focus of the team is its U25 riders.
- RGF Solutions | The mission of RGF Solutions is to create a nationally recognized cycling program that will recruit and evaluate young athletes by providing them with the tools and resources to compete at the highest level in the sport of competitive cycling in United States.
These are just a few of the teams that will have the prime opportunity to contend in one of the strongest fields of professional cycling here in Ohio. This year’s cyclists will compete for more than $20,000 in cash prizes. Starting Friday, July 9th at Mastropietro Winery, the Tour Of The Valley consists of 18 races over the course of three days. The weekend also consists of a scenic community event, “Ride The Tour,” a 25-mile bike trek through beautiful Mill Creek Park. Join in the fun by registering online at BikeReg.com.
